In an interview with NBC’s Brian Williams that will air Wednesday night, Mitt Romney said changing the gun laws won’t “make all the bad things go away” when asked about the deadly shooting in Colorado that left 12 dead and 58 injured. Romney said that Holmes “shouldn’t have had any kind of weapons and bombs and other devices and it was illegal for him to have many of those things already,” although Holmes had actually purchased everything legally. Romney capped off his answer by saying that instead of stricter gun laws “changing the heart of the American people may well be what’s essential, to improve the lots of the American people.”
