Romney: ‘Imperative’ to Contain Iran

Speaking in Israel on Sunday, Mitt Romney said keeping Iran from having nuclear capabilities is the U.S.’s “highest national security priority.” In front of about 300, the GOP nominee insisted the U.S. “must not delude itself into thinking containment is an option.” Earlier on Sunday, Romney, on a seven-day trip overseas, referred to Jerusalem as the capital of Israel —breaking with decades of U.S. policy, which has considered Tel Aviv the capital of Israel. In another stumble on the trip, Romney had originally scheduled the Israeli trip during the solemn fast of Tisha B’av, a Jewish holy day.
