Romney, Santorum Hit Each Other With Mich. Ads

“This time Romney’s firing his mud at Rick Santorum ... Romney's trying to hide from his big government ‘Romneycare,’” says the narrator in Rick Santorum’s latest Michigan ad. The TV commercial shows a Mitt Romney look-alike chasing a cardboard cutout of Rick Santorum around an empty parking garage with a gun filled with mud. “In the end Mitt Romney’s ugly attacks are going to backfire,” the voiceover says as the actor sprays himself with mud. Romney reacted to the ad on Fox News Wednesday with a laugh, saying, “That's the nature of politics, which is that you always accuse the other guy of what you're doing yourself,” insisting that his campaign has not run a single negative ad against Santorum. However, the latest ad released by Restore Our Future, the pro-Romney super PAC, does dig at the former Pennsylvania senator, calling him a “big spender Washington insider.”
