Cleveland Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel will be sidelined for Sunday’s Week 17 game, which means his rookie season has come to a close. Browns Coach Mike Pettine announced Monday that Manziel suffered a “significant” hamstring injury in their 17-13 loss to the Carolina Panthers, and the first-round draft pick will be out for next week’s game against the Baltimore Ravens. Brian Hoyer took over for Manziel just before halftime against the Panthers, but the quarterback was battling a shoulder injury. It’s not clear if Hoyer will also sit out Week 17, but if he does Connor Shaw will step in to make it the fifth consecutive year the Browns will start a third-string quarterback in the last game of the season.
