Getting ready for the 2016 convention, perhaps? Republicans on Wednesday chose Florida Sen. Marco Rubio to deliver their official response to President Obama’s State of the Union address next week. Rubio, elected in 2010, is one of the Republican Party’s fast-rising stars—and the most prominent Hispanic face in the GOP. Although Obama is expected to address immigration in the speech, Rubio is expected to instead focus on how Republicans can grow the middle class. But don’t think Republicans are ceding any Hispanic votes: Rubio will give the speech in Spanish as well as English.
