Rush Revere and the Brave Pilgrims
On Wednesday night, conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh won the Author of the Year prize at the Children’s Choice Book Awards. His book, which has the long but predictably patriotic title of Rush Revere and the Brave Pilgrims: Time-Travel Adventures with Exceptional Americans, helped him beat out four other authors, including Veronica Roth of Divergent fame. Limbaugh’s book was not a critical success. Kirkus Reviews declared his work “breathtakingly, laughably terrible.” However, the Children’s Book Council, which organizes the awards, said nominees were based on sales, and winners were chosen by online voters. In accepting the award, the ever-bombastic Limbaugh said, "I love America. I wish everybody did.”
