Russia Blasts ‘Blatantly Hostile’ U.S. for Diplomatic Post Closures

After U.S. ordered closure of sites in San Francisco, New York and Washington, D.C.

Russia on Sunday blasted the U.S. government for ordering the closure of Russian diplomatic facilities in San Francisco, New York and Washington, D.C. “We treat these developments as a blatantly hostile act, a grave violation by Washington of international law,” the Russian foreign ministry said in a statement. “We urge the U.S. authorities to come to their senses and immediately return the Russian diplomatic facilities. Otherwise the USA will bear total blame for the ongoing degradation of the relations between our countries.” The U.S. move was in response to Russia’s decision to kick out hundreds of American diplomats.
