On Saturday, Russia’s foreign ministry dismissed new U.S. sanctions as useless and said the country will wait as long as it takes for the U.S. to recognize its right to Crimea. President Obama imposed new restrictions on the import and export of goods, services and technology to Crimea on Friday, the same day that Canada announced travel bans for dozens of people and restrictions on the export of technologies used in Russia’s oil industry. “The White House took half a century to admit that blockading Cuba with sanctions was useless: well, we can wait too,” Russia’s foreign ministry said in a statement.
