It's been a long time coming, but Russia finally joined the World Trade Organization after 18 years of talks. The last of the G20 countries to join, Russia had had its admission blocked by Georgia because of a war the two countries fought in 2008. The lowering of trade barriers that comes with Russia's admission to the 153-nation body is estimated to boost its economy by tens of billions of dollars per year.
