Russia Today Claims its U.K. Bank Accounts Will Be Frozen
Russia Today claims the network was informed that its United Kingdom bank accounts will be frozen. Margarita Simonyan, the editor in chief of Russia’s state-funded international television network, wrote on Twitter: “Our accounts in the U.K. have been closed. The decision can not be reversed. Long live freedom of speech!” The cable news network has long been criticized for a pro-Russian bias on a variety of stories. RT claims that after a decade of banking with NatWest, the network was informed that the bank had “undertaken a review of your banking arrangements” and opted to close the accounts.
