While everyone else is trying to figure out where Edward Snowden might end up next, one Russian official is already certain. Venezuela would be “the best solution” for the whistleblower, tweeted Member of Parliament Aleksei Pushkov, just hours after both Venezuela and Nicaragua offered asylum. Pushkov is the chairman of the international-affairs committee in the governing body’s lower house. Why Venezuela? “The country has a sharp conflict with the United States. It will not be worse,” Pushkov claims, though the two countries have lately been working toward reconciliation. His main concern, as with Russian officials all the way up to Putin, is just getting Snowden out. It’s been a good run, but you”ve got to let go sometime.
