Russian Ballet Director May Lose Sight

Whoever attacked Sergei Filin may get what was intended, as the artistic director of Russia’s Bolshoi Ballet may never see again. Doctors are working to save the 43-year-old’s sight from the concentrated acid that was thrown into his face as he returned home late Thursday night. A Bolshoi spokeswoman told Russia’s state-run news agency that it could take at least six months for Filin to recover from third-degree burns. Filin had apparently taken the prestigious ballet company’s key role after months of “fierce rivalry” for the position during which he’d received threatening phone calls, his tires were slashed, and someone tried to hack his Facebook page.
