One of Russia's largest banks, sanctioned by the United States, just hired two former U.S. senators to do its bidding. John Breaux and Trent Lott, a Democrat and Republican, respectively, have taken on Gazprombank as their client for law firm Squire Patton Boggs where they both lobby on "banking laws and regulations including applicable sanctions." Gazprombank is controlled by Russia's largest gas producer and was barred from debt transactions with U.S. institutions as punishment for Russia's meddling in Ukraine.
