Russian Helicopter Shot Down in Syria

A Russian transport helicopter that was delivering humanitarian goods to the city of Aleppo in Syria has been shot down, according to the Russian Defense Ministry. CNN reports that all five people on board were killed in the crash. The Mi-8 was in Idlib province en route to a Russian air base when it crashed. “Those who were aboard the helicopter, according to information from the Defense Ministry, have died heroically because they were attempting to steer the machine to minimize the casualties on the ground,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov reportedly said.
