A Russian jet carrying the Lokomotiv Yaroslavl ice-hockey team crashed shortly after takeoff Wednesday, killing all but two of the 45 people on board. The team was on its way to Minsk for the opening game of the season. A crew member and Russian hockey player Alexander Galimov were the only survivors. Among the dead was Pavol Demitra, a former Kings forward and three-time NHL All-Star. It’s the latest of several air crashes in Russia this year. Russian President Dmitry Medvedev is due to speak at the scene of the disaster.
