Russian propagandists created a Facebook page called “United Muslims of America” as part of the Kremlin's campaign to influence American politics, often targeting the likes of John McCain and Hillary Clinton. But the propagandists began to praise Clinton after the Pulse nightclub shooting, during which an American inspired by ISIS massacred 49 people. After the terror attack, the account created an event called, “Support Hillary. Save American Muslims!” The page noted that Clinton was “the only presidential candidate who refuses to ‘demonize’ Islam after the Orlando nightclub shooting.” In addition to the Facebook page, affiliated accounts on Instagram and Twitter have also been shut down.
