Reuters confirmed The Daily Beast's report last week that Russian military forces have joined up with the government of Bashar al-Assad in Syria. While the numbers are small, Reuters cites three Lebanese sources who say landing ships, aircraft, and naval infantry forces have been sent to Syria. U.S. officials say Moscow's intent is unclear, but it seems that Russians are interested in propping up Assad against anti-regime forces, especially ISIS.
