The entire Russian weightlifting team has been banned from competing in the Rio 2016 Olympics, the International Weightlifting Federation announced Friday. The blacklist comes as the IWF revealed that multiple Russian weightlifters had abused steroids, an “extremely shocking and disappointing" act that “seriously damaged” the integrity of professional weightlifting. The Russian team's eight spots at the Olympics will be opened to other countries.
