For the first time, Ruth Madoff will have to save her receipts: Under a new agreement, she will provide a court-appointed trustee with a report of her purchases and payments every month. She’ll be forced to account for any expense over $100. In the agreement, Ruth will be allowed to spend money on “reasonable living expenses,” in addition to taxes and legal fees—but she’ll be kept from spending money on inappropriate things. According to Ruth’s lawyer, she has not yet found a place to rent, though it is not disclosed with whom she is staying. Her lawyer called the agreement “a reasonable accommodation based on the trustee’s lawsuit, and allows her to go forward in a responsible and fair way.”
