Lawrence Salander was sentenced to six to 18 years in prison for defrauding art clients of around $120 million. Through his art dealing scheme, he swindled high-profile people like John McEnroe and Robert De Niro Sr. (the actor’s father, who is an artist himself), and actually stole and secretly resold art from other people’s estates, such as the deceased artist Stuart Davis and Dr. Alexander Pearlman.
