The Salvation Army got an unusually large donation this weekend when a couple slipped a $500,000 check into a red kettle outside a grocery store in suburban Minneapolis. According to a local Salvation Army spokeswoman, it's the biggest donation ever for that division of the charity. The benefactor couple reportedly have a history of big donations and prefer to remain anonymous.
