During the 30-hour manhunt following the Sunday morning killing of a San Antonio police officer, the accused gunman was at the Bexar County Courthouse getting married, according to the San Antonio Express-News. Otis Tyrone McKane was arrested late Monday afternoon in the ambush shooting of Det. Benjamin Marconi, seven hours after McKane reportedly married Christian Chanel Fields. The couple obtained a magistrate’s waiver from the county’s customary 72-hour waiting period for weddings. McKane told reporters after his arrest that he killed Marconi, 50, because he was upset about a child-custody battle over his son. “I lashed out at someone who didn’t deserve it,” he said. Marconi was gunned down in his patrol cruiser while he was issuing a traffic citation to someone else.
