San Diego Mayor Bob Filner to Resign

Bob Filner, the embattled mayor of San Diego, has agreed to resign in a deal made with city officials Wednesday, an NBC San Diego affiliate confirmed Thursday. Officials announced Wednesday night that a deal had been struck, but the result was supposed to remain confidential until Friday afternoon. Filner is under fire for multiple sexual-harassment charges; so far 18 women have claimed he made various inapprioriate advances. The mayor underwent two weeks of behavorial therapy in hopes that the storm would blow over and had previously steadfastly refused to resign.
