San Diego police took a gunman into custody after a five-hour standoff that diverted inbound flights at the nearby San Diego International Airport on Wednesday. The 33-year-old man, identified as Titus Colbert, fired at officers responding to a domestic violence report. Police SWAT team members deployed tear gas "on numerous occasions" in response to Colbert, who officials said fired a high-powered rifle, according San Diego Police Chief Shelley Zimmerman. Reporters on the scene said flash bang grenades were also used before he was taken into custody. Flights at the nearby airport were barred from landing during the standoff. The suspect will be charged with attempting to murder a police officer. Court records show Colbert was a gang member with a long criminal record, NBC reports.
