San Francisco 49ers linebacker Reuben Foster was arrested on domestic violence charges in Florida late Saturday—prompting his removal from the team, The Associated Press reports. Foster was accused of slapping a woman with an open hand on her face at the team hotel in Tampa. He allegedly shoved the woman near her chest and slapped a phone from her hand. She also had a “one-inch scratch on her collarbone,” according to the AP. The 49ers issued a one-sentence statement Sunday morning announcing that Foster had been cut from the team. A police spokeswoman said Foster and the woman had an on-again, off-again relationship over the last three years. They also lived together at some point, police said. It’s not clear whether Foster’s accuser is the same woman who had alleged that he had hit her in February, but later recanted these claims, the AP noted.
