After Thursday night’s heated CNN debate in Brooklyn, Bernie Sanders traveled to Rome to attend a conference on the world economy and social justice at the Vatican. The Vermont senator will arrive midday in Rome on Friday with his wife, Jane, all four of his children, and four grandchildren. The international jaunt, which was organized and paid for by Sanders’s campaign, comes just days before his home state of New York’s Democratic primary. Sanders is expected to speak at the conference at around 4 p.m. local time before returning to campaign in New York City on Saturday.
