White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders fired back at Sen. Bob Corker (R-TN) for questioning President Donald Trump’s “stability” and “competence” last week in light of the president’s response to the violence in Charlottesville. “That’s a ridiculous and outrageous claim and doesn't dignify a response from this podium,” Sanders said at Thursday’s press briefing. Corker, who chairs the Foreign Relations Committee, has been critical of Trump in recent months, but has been a longtime ally of the president and was under considering to be secretary of state. “[Trump] has not demonstrated that he understands what has made this nation great and what it is today,” Corker said last week.
