Democratic presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders outraised and outspent rival Hillary Clinton during the month of February, according to campaign-finance data filed Sunday. The Vermont senator raised more than Clinton for the second month in a row, bringing in $43.5 million compared with her $30.1 million, a Sanders campaign official told The Washington Post. However, in an effort to catch up with the former secretary of State, Sanders burned through $40.9 million compared to Clinton’s $34.3 million in spending. The senator had $17.2 million remaining as March began while Clinton had $30.8 million. Sanders has raised just under $140 million in total. Clinton has pulled nearly $161 million overall.
