Accused child molester Jerry Sandusky appeared at a court hearing on Friday, as his defense lawyers argued with prosecutors over whether the former Penn State coach’s bail conditions should be altered. Sandusky testified at the hearing, requesting that his grandchildren be able to visit him at home and that a local, impartial jury hear his case to avoid excess media attention. Prosecutors have asked that the trial be moved out of the county, and insist that his home is “not safe for children.” Neighbors have reportedly been complaining about Sandusky watching children at a nearby school. A judge said he will decide soon whether to grant Sandusky greater freedom, and set a tentative trial date for May 14.
