CONVENTION SPEECH

Santorum Blasts ‘Assault on Marriage’

Former GOP presidential hopeful Rick Santorum picked up where his campaign left off during his speech at Tuesday’s Republican National Convention, decrying that “marriage is disappearing” among the poor in America and saying the culprit is an “assault on marriage and the family.” Whereas many of the night’s other speakers seized on the “you didn’t build that” theme attacking President Obama’s supposedly antibusiness platforms, Santorum stuck to social issues, particularly the idea that promoting heterosexual marriage is the key to solving many of the nation’s other problems.
