Saudi Arabia is ordering its citizens living or visiting Lebanon to leave the country as tensions between the two governments have risen exponentially in the past week. Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri abruptly resigned last weekend in a televised announcement from the Saudi capital, renouncing Iran’s influence in Lebanese politics in his resignation. He also said the militant group Hezbollah has taken control of his country, which Saudi Arabia says it considers an “act of war” against its kingdom. Hariri’s political party has since called for him to return to his country and Lebanese President Michel Aoun said he will not accept the resignation until the two leaders meet in person.
