A Saudi religious scholar was reportedly let off with nothing but a fine and a short jail term after allegedly beating and raping his 5-year-old daughter to death. The man confessed to using cables and cane to beat his daughter, according to activists from the group Women to Drive. The activists have objected to a ruling that the man only had to pay “blood money” to the child’s mother and that the time he had already served in prison since the child’s death sufficed as a punishment.
