Saudi students in at least eight states have fled the country while facing serious criminal charges for crimes including rape and murder, according to a Friday report from The Oregonian. The report builds on a previous investigation from the outlet, which revealed that at least five Saudi students living in Oregon fled the country before facing trial or completing their sentence. In at least four of those cases, the Saudi consulate paid their bail. The new report claims that similar escapes have taken place in Montana, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Utah, Washington, Wisconsin, and Nova Scotia. The alleged escapees include a man accused of sexual assault and forced confinement who fled Nova Scotia, and a man who allegedly had a laptop filled with child pornography who fled Oregon. In both cases, the Saudi consulate paid their bail.
