South Carolina’s Tri-County Fraternal Order of Police has issued a dubious rallying call to its members, even as damning video evidence against one of their own emerges in the shooting death of Walter Scott. “Do not allow the professional race agitators to seize this moment to advance their often self-serving opinions of what is wrong in South Carolina. Do not allow them to bemoan the lack of trust of police by the minority community,” reads a statement issued by the group Thursday night. The group condemned the shooting, but said that the conversations happening in its wake devalue the work being done by police.
