S.C. More Important Than New Hampshire?

PRIMARY CONCERN

State has good track record with national election.

Slow down, New Hampshire politics junkies. Republican strategists have reason to think that the South Carolina primary, happening on Jan. 21, is more important than New Hampshire. Since 1980, South Carolina has chosen the man who’s won the Republican nomination. Also, the state has seen some tightly contested campaigns—as in 2000 with Dubya and McCain. If Romney is able to win in S.C., the race may be over. But if he loses, the primary battle may drag on until March 6.
