At least 30 people—including 27 children—died Monday evening when a school bus in the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh skidded as it turned a corner and plunged into a gorge, the BBC reported. The bus was carrying more than 40 students, many of whom were below the age of 10. Two teachers and the bus driver perished in the accident. “The bus rolled into a 200ft (61m) deep gorge, killing 27 schoolchildren, two teachers and the driver,” police official Santosh Patyal told the Agence France-Presse news agency.
