School Rape Shock

Scandal rocked a New Jersey school district after a basketball coach repeatedly raped a 7-year-old student during an after-school program in the city of Irvington. Glenn Harp, a Newark resident, pleaded guilty to first-degree, aggravated sexual assault after police discovered he had violated the girl multiple times both on school grounds and in his home. Harp was hired by school board member, Ahmed Screven, who never performed a background check. Had the check been done, according to school policy, he would have discovered that Harp was indicted for sexual assault, and convicted of endangering the welfare of a child, nearly a decade earlier.
