This sounds like it's straight out of Hollywood. Scientists will blast 24 million gallons of water into a dormant central Oregon volcano to showcase green technology. If all goes to plan, the water will hit the surface at a speed and temperature high enough to create cheap and renewable geothermal energy—and without causing earthquakes. The government, Google, and more investors have pumped $43 million into the project, expected to happen next summer.
