The Supreme Court has halted a lower court's decision that would force more than half of Texas's abortion clinics to close. The court's temporary stay says that clinics do not have to go along with new hospital-like standards that were set to go into effect on July 1. According to the court, the restrictions were not proven to protect women's health. If the court chooses to hear whether the Texas rules are constitutional, the case could begin at the end of the year.
