Boosts public profile.

Hedge funds, those private investment vehicles for the very wealthy, may be boosting their public profile. The Securities and Exchange Commission Wednesday granted permission for hedge funds to start advertising to the public for the first time. Of course, they’re not getting too democratic. You still have to be rich to invest in one – income of more than $200,000 or assets of more than $1 million.
