Second ICE Detainee Dies in Georgia in Span of Two Days

According to a report in The Atlanta Journal Constitution, 58-year-old Atulkumar Babubhai Patel died Tuesday after being detained by federal immigration authorities. He is the second U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement detainee to die in Georgia in the span of two days. His preliminary cause of death was determined to be complications from congestive heart failure. The second death occurred in Stewart County. A 27-year-old Panamanian-national named Jean Jimenez-Joseph allegedly died after he was found unresponsive with a sheet around his neck in his solitary-confinement cell.
