An improv comedian and composer named Justin Moran will open his own Spider-Man musical on March 14—the day before Julie Taymor’s troubled Spider-Man production is scheduled to open. Moran says his show, The Spidey Project: With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility, will open at the Peoples Improv Theater in Manhattan and that it will follow the comic’s original story. He doesn’t have Marvel’s permission but figures “there’s enough leeway in the parody or spoof angle.” He has a budget of zero dollars but is hoping for a good enough reception to justify repeat performances after the opening.
