Hours after the Israeli military killed at least nine people while storming six ships of pro-Palestinian activists, Turkey called an emergency meeting of the United Nations Security Council. "No state is above the law," Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said. "Israel must be held accountable for its crimes." Turkey had helped arrange the convoy of relief supplies to Gaza. At the meeting several voices, including Britain’s ambassador to the U.N., called for Israel to now end its blockade of Gaza. The U.N. will also conduct its own investigation. The various accounts of exactly what happened are still conflicting, but the Israeli army released footage of the raid to back up claims that the soldiers acted in self defense.
