Sen. Bob Corker is the latest Republican to jump on board as the president pushes for higher taxes on Americans who make more than $250,000 a year. Lawmakers should be able to push through a deal on the fiscal cliff within the next three weeks, Corker said. Giving the president a higher tax rate for the top 2 percent of American earners may be the best way for Republicans to shift the debate back to entitlements, according to Corker, a member of the Senate Banking Committee. Meanwhile, President Obama met with House Speaker John Boehner on Sunday to negotiate a compromise though both sides are keeping mum about their discussion.
