One of the many Senate contract workers on strike Wednesday is cook Bertrand Olotara, a single dad whose $12-per-hour job in the halls of power says doesn't earn him enough to make ends meet. In an op-ed for The Guardian, Olotara says he works a second job at a grocery store, but still has to rely on foodstamps. The Senate contractors joined a district-wide strike by workers calling on the government to prioritize contracts with companies who don't block employees from unionizing and offer better pay.
