The health-care overhaul bill set to be released by Senate Republicans would cut Medicaid expansion, repeal taxes on the wealthy, and cut funding for Planned Parenthood, The Washington Post reports. The legislation proposed by the Senate resembles the health-care plan drawn up earlier by the House, but would impose deeper long-term cuts to Medicaid, which could prompt states to reduce their programs. The bill would tie federal insurance subsidies to income rather than age and eliminate funding for Planned Parenthood. Republican aides said the bill would likely need further revisions, as many GOP senators are unhappy with it. Democrats have warned that the Senate proposal, like that of the House, would deprive millions of Americans of health insurance. The bill could be put to a vote as early as next week.
