It’s not like we didn’t see this coming. President Obama’s earnest push did not help his new legislation to help teachers and firefighters keep their jobs. The Senate didn’t go for the plan which called for $35 billion—$30 billion for hiring teachers and other school staff, and $5 billion for paying firefighters and police officers among other first responders. The president doesn’t seem to be shying away from his jobs plan despite the fact that he has hardly any support from Republicans in Congress.
