A serial pedophile who threatened to rape his sentencing judge’s wife has been branded a “sexually dangerous person” and committed indefinitely to federal custody—the 81st predator to be designated since the Adam Walsh Act was enacted in 2006. Kelly Gerald Crosby, 35, has admitted to molesting at least 15 children, some as young as 2 years old, according to a court stipulation he signed. After he served four years in prison for persuading a 13-year-old girl to send him nude photos, he ended up back behind bars on a parole violation within months. While incarcerated, he mailed three letters with rape threats: one to the teenager from the previous conviction, one to his probation officer, and one to the judge, according to court papers. “In the letter intended for the sentencing judge, Crosby threatened to rape the judge’s wife as the judge watched prior to killing the judge,” according to the stipulation. Authorities moved to have Crosby committed under the Adam Walsh Act, which means he will receive treatment in a federal facility until the courts decide he is no longer dangerous, prosecutors announced this week.
