Israeli authorities suspect Jewish extremists are to blame after a fire damaged one of the most famous churches in the Holy Land on Thursday. At the Church of the Multiplication of the Loaves and the Fish, fire destroyed prayer books and damaged several rooms. “This morning’s outrageous arson attack on a church is an attack on us all. In Israel, freedom of worship is one of our core values and is guaranteed under the law,” Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said. The church, which receives more than 5,000 visitors daily, will be closed for the next three days for repairs.
