A deadly car bomb at the gates of a military base in Mogadishu, Somalia, Saturday morning killed at least eight soldiers and wounded 14 others, according to the Associated Press. An extremist group with ties to al Qaeda and al-Shabab quickly claimed responsibility for the attack. The group has targeted other military sites in recent months. Al-Shabab has been targeted by U.S. airstrikes at least 63 times in the last year, but have remained resilient.
